Softball Recap: Leigh Comes Up Short

Leigh had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-13-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Willow Glen Rams, falling 10-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Longhorns of the 12-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Leigh saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mady Cabrera, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Willow Glen, the win keeps they at an undefeated 14-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average this season.

On Willow Glen's side, Morgan Pike spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Katelynn Dilbeck was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Ocumen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Leigh will take on rival Gilroy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Willow Glen is set to challenge their familiar foe Ann Sobrato at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
