Baseball Recap: Daniel Beats Pickens for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Daniel got themselves on the board against Pickens on Tuesday, but Pickens never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Blue Flame with a sharp 14-0 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.

Ian McCrary looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty Simpson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Greyson Davis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Daniel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pickens only posted an OBP of .286.

The win (which was Daniel's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Pickens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Looking ahead, Daniel is taking a road trip to take on Travelers Rest at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pickens will be paying especially close attention to the Lions' match: after the Lions faces off against the Devildogs, they'll take on Pickens again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
