Softball Recap: Seven Straight Road Victories for Saratoga Springs

Saratoga Springs hadn't done well against Colonie Central recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blue Streaks walked away with a 14-9 victory over the Wolfpack. The Blue Streaks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jackie Cutting made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Nia Law was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Arianna Avila, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Saratoga Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They got five more hits than Colonie Central's also-impressive total of 12.

Saratoga Springs pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Colonie Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Saratoga Springs will welcome Jamesville-DeWitt at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Colonie Central, they will head out to take on Kingston at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
