Softball Game Preview: Hickory Hawks vs. Grassfield Grizzlies

Hickory is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Grassfield is on a 13-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Hawks will welcome the Grizzlies at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hickory's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lakeland as they made off with an 11-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Grassfield made easy work of Oscar Smith on Tuesday and carried off a 10-0 win.

The team relied heavily on Haley Trumbo, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sydney Jones, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

Grassfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive games.

Hickory's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Grassfield, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
