Basketball Recap: Box Elder Takes a Loss

Box Elder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 64-51 loss to the Woods Cross Wildcats. The Bees were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Box Elder still got an impressive performance from Mayson Jeppsen, who posted 14 points and eight boards. Jeppsen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Krew Peterson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Hunter Jackson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards for Woods Cross. That's the most rebounds Jackson has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Stepan, who put up 13 points.

Box Elder's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Woods Cross, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Box Elder will challenge Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Viewmont has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 177 points over their last three matchups. As for Woods Cross, they will face off against Clearfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Woods Cross is facing Clearfield at the right time seeing as Clearfield is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
