Volleyball Recap: George Washington Starts Season with Win on the Road

George Washington had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Mountain View Mountain Lions 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2023.

George Washington had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-10.

Tlung Mawng paced George Washington's offense, picking up eight kills. Mawng got some help from Danial Dehno and his 11 assists. Dehno was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. George Washington will venture away from home to challenge Overland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mountain View, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Campion Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
