Volleyball Recap: Irvine Takes a Loss

Irvine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Laguna Beach Breakers. The Vaqueros were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Breakers earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Irvine wouldn't go down easily and took Laguna Beach into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 20-25, 15-12.

Irvine's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Laguna Beach, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-13.

Coming up, Irvine will face off against St. Margaret's at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tartans will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Vaqueros surely won't give up without a fight. As for Laguna Beach, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Brea Olinda on the 19th.
