Baseball Game Preview: Grand Junction Central Warriors vs. Durango Demons

Grand Junction Central is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will square off against the Durango Demons at 3:00 p.m. Grand Junction Central has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grand Junction Central came up short against Coal Ridge on Tuesday, falling 11-2. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Grand Junction Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyrus Kellerby, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Gavin Metli also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Durango waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Panthers.

Sam Clark tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk).

Durango's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Grand Junction Central, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Grand Junction Central beat Durango 7-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
