Flag Football Game Preview: Orange Lutheran Lancers vs. San Marcos Royals

The Orange Lutheran Lancers will take on the San Marcos Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Orange Lutheran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 29.9 points per game this season.

Orange Lutheran is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They breezed past Redondo Union to the tune of 50-14. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Sea Hawks are ranked 32nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Orange Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makena Cook led the charge by throwing for 317 yards and seven TDs. Cook's passing production has been exceptional as that marked her fifth straight game with at least 308 passing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Happy Dubois, who picked up 127 receiving yards and four scores.

Orange Lutheran didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brynlee Wessel, Claire Dahman, Ava Harrison, and Julia Oberholtzer picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, San Marcos had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.9 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Wednesday. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 13-7 W against the Jesters.

Orange Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for San Marcos, their victory bumped their record up to 23-3.
