Soccer Game Preview: Lumberton vs. Jack Britt

Lumberton is 0-9-1 against Jack Britt since March of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Lumberton Pirates will challenge the Jack Britt Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lumberton's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Whiteville with a sharp 8-0 win. Linsi Campos Padilla was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jack Britt). They blew past Douglas Byrd 9-0 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Buccaneers brought their scoring average up to 3.4 goals per game.

The win made it two in a row for Lumberton and bumps their season record up to 3-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those two matches. As for Jack Britt, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Lumberton came up short against Jack Britt in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Lumberton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
