Volleyball Game Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Ripon Christian Knights

Hilmar hasn't had much luck against Ripon Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will face off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Hilmar turned things around against Orestimba on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Warriors 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted against the Warriors since February 25, 2022.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-90) Hilmar actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 16-25, 8-25, 16-14.

Meanwhile, Ripon Christian waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Cougars 3-0.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Ripon Christian was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-11, 25-12.

Hilmar's win bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Ripon Christian, they pushed their record up to 22-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Hilmar suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Ripon Christian when the teams last played back in March. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
