Volleyball Game Preview: Spring Lake Park Panthers vs. Elk River Elks

The Spring Lake Park Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Elk River Elks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Spring Lake Park will be strutting in after a win while Elk River will be coming in after a loss.

Spring Lake Park is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Osseo, who was ranked 15th at the time (Spring Lake Park was ranked third). The Panthers blew past the Orioles 3-0 on Wednesday. The Panthers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 3-0).

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-14.

Among those leading the charge was Hector Ly, who had 22 assists and seven digs. That's the most assists he has posted over his last six contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Elk River's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Anoka. While the Elks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tornadoes 25-21 in the first set.

Elk River started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-16.

Spring Lake Park pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Elk River, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Everything went Spring Lake Park's way against Elk River in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Spring Lake Park made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Elks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
