Football Game Preview: Plainfield Panthers vs. Waterford Lancers

The Plainfield Panthers will face off against the Waterford Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Plainfield didn't have too much trouble with Woodstock Academy as they won 22-6.

Meanwhile, Waterford got the win against Montville on Friday by a conclusive 39-17. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won six in a row.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Griffin Haffey and Omar Hernandez. Haffey rushed for 19 yards and a pair of TDs while Hernandez rushed for 96 yards. Those 96 rushing yards gave Hernandez a new career-high.

Waterford now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Plainfield, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Plainfield was taken down by Waterford 47-13 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Panthers, Jax Higgins (who rushed for 70 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 143 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
