Basketball Recap: Mercer County Comes Up Short

Mercer County lost against Rockcastle County back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mercer County Titans were beaten by the Rockcastle County Rockets 70-33. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-14.

Despite the loss, Mercer County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Olive Frisby posted six points. That's the most points Frisby has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Fenwick, who had six points.

Taylor King continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rockcastle County, going 9-for-10 en route to 21 points. The game was King's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Spivey, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 13 points.

Mercer County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. Rockcastle County pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Mercer County has already played their next contest, a 53-27 victory against Dayton on the 8th. As for Rockcastle County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-44 win against Whitley County on the 10th.
