Baseball Game Preview: King Philip Regional Warriors vs. Oliver Ames Tigers

The King Philip Regional Warriors will head out to square off against the Oliver Ames Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. King Philip Regional is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

King Philip Regional had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Bridgewater-Raynham on Thursday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 12-2 victory. The matchup marked the Warriors' most dominant win of the season so far.

Jacoby Cady tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Alex Lutfy was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Herlin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

King Philip Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Oliver Ames scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canton. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

King Philip Regional pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Oliver Ames, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

King Philip Regional took their victory against Oliver Ames in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
