Volleyball Recap: Pike Central Chargers vs. Evansville Central Bears
Pike Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 2-0 to the Evansville Central Bears. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
While Pike Central had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20.
Heidi Woodford paced Pike Central's offense, picking up seven kills. Woodford got some help from Braelyn Barnett and her nine assists. Woodford was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Evansville Central found their leader in freshman Ella Bevels, who had seven digs and two aces.
Pike Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Evansville Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.
Pike Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Perry Central on the 13th. As for Evansville Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Washington on the 13th.
