Preview: Yulee Hornets vs. Hilliard Red Flashes
Yulee is 2-8 against Hilliard since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Yulee Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hilliard Red Flashes at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Yulee posted their biggest victory since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They breezed by Baldwin on the road to the tune of 68-40. The victory was just what Yulee needed coming off of a 68-37 loss in their prior matchup.
Yulee can attribute much of their success to Ace Walker, who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alex Naumow, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Hilliard entered their tilt with Hamilton County with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Hilliard took their contest at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 73-28 victory over Hamilton County. Hilliard has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.
Yulee's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Hilliard, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
