Softball Recap: Ninety Six Gets the Win

While Ninety Six's victory against Batesburg-Leesville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Panthers 4-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Autumn Werts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olivia Coster was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Jocelyn Coleman also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Ninety Six's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Batesburg-Leesville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Ninety Six is set to face off against their familiar foe Saluda at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 4, the Tigers 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Batesburg-Leesville will challenge rival American Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
