Baseball Game Preview: Arlington Lions vs. Liberty Bison

The Arlington Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Liberty Bison at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

If Arlington beats Liberty with three runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Lions skirted past Valley View 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Liberty came out on top against Paloma Valley on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Bison had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 4-3. That's two games straight that the Bison have won by just one run.

Riley Vogt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luis De La Riva, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Arlington, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.

Arlington came out on top in a nail-biter against Liberty when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
