After a string of six wins, Cyprus's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Murray Spartans by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pirates have suffered since April 4, 2024.

Rene Hidalgo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Easton Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Cyprus' defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Murray, their record now sits at 7-2-1.

Looking ahead, Cyprus will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Hunter at 3:30 p.m. The Pirates are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Murray, they are taking a road trip to square off against Granger at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
