Volleyball Recap: Whiting's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against River Forest on Thursday, Whiting came back down to earth. The Oilers lost 3-0 to the Calumet Christian Patriots on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Oilers in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost five in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-16, 25-10.

Despite the loss, Whiting still got an impressive performance from Sophia Perez, who had 11 digs. Perez has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Among those leading the charge was Alexa Rentas, who had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in October of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Whiting fell to 3-1. As for Calumet Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Whiting didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Chicago Washington on the 27th. As for Calumet Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Patriots their first taste of in-conference action this season.
