Volleyball Recap: Desert Hills Comes Up Short

Desert Hills was the 3-1 winner over Crimson Cliffs when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Thunder fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Thunder have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Desert Hills sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-13, 24-26, 25-18, 24-26, 15-12.

Brodie Hoag paced Desert Hills' offense, picking up 16 kills. Hoag got some help from Jordan Schudde and his 22 assists. Finally, Graham Wintle kept Desert Hills' defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Leading Crimson Cliffs to victory were Colsen Neal and Nathan Dana. Neal had 20 digs and two assists, while Dana had 28 assists and seven digs. That's the most digs Neal has posted since back in March. Garrett Campbell also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Desert Hills' loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Crimson Cliffs, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Desert Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Dixie on the 15th. As for Crimson Cliffs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Pine View on the 15th.
