Basketball Recap: Lake View Extends Home Winning Streak to 14

There's no place like home for Lake View, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They escaped with a win on Thursday against the Schurz Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 42-41. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Frank Fregoso, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and nine assists. Those 11 boards gave Fregoso a new career-high. Dyami Rolon was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Lake View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Lake View's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points over those games. As for Schurz, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake View will welcome Brooks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Brooks will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Lake View surely won't give up without a fight. As for Schurz, they will be playing at home against Mather at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Schurz is facing Mather at the right time seeing as Mather is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
