Baseball Recap: Huron Triumphs

Huron came out on top against Woodhaven on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Chiefs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Warriors. The game was the first time the Chiefs have beaten the Warriors on their field since April 23, 2019.

Cash Muzzy made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dayton Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Dominic Russo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Huron was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodhaven only posted a batting average of .241.

Huron's record is now 20-4. As for Woodhaven, they moved to 21-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Huron will venture away from home to face off against Riverview at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Woodhaven, they will face off against Lincoln Park at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors are facing the Railsplitters at the right time seeing as the Railsplitters are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
