Preview: Raleigh Charter Phoenix vs. Franklin Academy Patriots
The Raleigh Charter Phoenix will head out on the road to take on the Franklin Academy Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Raleigh Charter has struggled recently with 13 losses in a row, while Franklin Academy will arrive with six straight victories.
Last Friday, Raleigh Charter was the victim of a tough 58-33 loss at the hands of NCSSM: Durham. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Raleigh Charter in their matchups with NCSSM: Durham: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Franklin Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Falls Lake 85-56 on the road. Franklin Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Lewis, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lewis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hayes Lewis, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Raleigh Charter dropped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Franklin Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-8 record this season.
Raleigh Charter might still be hurting after the 63-39 loss they got from Franklin Academy in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Now that Raleigh Charter knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
