Basketball Recap: Grand River Academy Takes a Loss

Grand River Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Northland Vikings. Grand River Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northland apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Diante James continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northland, going 9-for-16 to rack up 26 points and five steals. James has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nehemiah McMorris, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Grand River Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Northland, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Grand River Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northland, they will welcome Teays Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
