Basketball Recap: Vincent Arnaudo Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Kimball

There's no place like home for St. Mary, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They strolled past the Kimball Jaguars with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 63-44. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Jaguars are ranked 610th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Mary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vincent Arnaudo led the charge by putting up ten points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of William Weathington, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points.

St. Mary's was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kimball only racked up seven assists.

Kimball's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Ryan, who posted seven points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. That's the most assists Ryan has posted since back in January of 2024. Madhav Asija was another key player, earning seven points.

St. Mary's has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Kimball, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

St. Mary's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-46 loss against Lodi on the 15th. Kimball has also already played their next game, a 73-33 defeat against Tracy on the 13th.
