Football Game Preview: Annandale Atoms vs. Mount Vernon Majors + How To Watch

The Annandale Atoms will venture away from home to face off against the Mount Vernon Majors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Annandale took a loss when they played away from home back in October, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They put the hurt on Lewis with a sharp 40-14 win. The Atoms pushed the score to 40-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lancers cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon made easy work of Falls Church on Thursday and carried off a 41-21 victory. Considering the Majors have won five contests by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mount Vernon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Demontrez Bannister picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Mount Vernon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.6 points over those games. As for Annandale, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-6.

Annandale took a serious blow against Mount Vernon when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 49-20. Can the Atoms avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
