Baseball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

Washington suffered their biggest defeat since March 30th on Saturday. They lost 11-2 to the Jonathan Alder Pioneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Lions of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Washington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Hutchinson, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Gunner Robertson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Washington has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Jonathan Alder, the win keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.

Coming up, Washington will face off against Chillicothe at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.31 runs per game on average), something the Blue Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Jonathan Alder, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Kenton Ridge at 5:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pioneers 2.2, the Cougars 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
