Recap: Boyd County Spartans vs. Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats
This season hasn't been kind to the Boyd County Spartans, who are still winless after their seventh game. They took a hard 37-22 fall against Hartington-Newcastle on Tuesday. Boyd County has struggled against Hartington-Newcastle recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Paige Drueke and Mckenzie Snyder certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Drueke scored seven points along with five assists and three steals, while Snyder scored four points along with six rebounds. Drueke scored a full 31.8% of Boyd County's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Boyd County bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.3 points per game. As for Hartington-Newcastle, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Boyd County will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Creighton at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th. Hartington-Newcastle and Lutheran-Northeast will round out the year against one another at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th at.
