Basketball Recap: Franklin Comes Up Short

Franklin lost against Cherokee back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers were outmatched by the Braves and fell 76-22. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since January 28th.

Rylee Greene was Franklin's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Bristol Brooks held things down on the boards with five rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Cherokee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Rogers, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 17 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. Joscelyn Stamper was another key player, going 7-for-10 to rack up 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Franklin will head out to take on Swain County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cherokee, they have already played their next matchup, a 92-16 win against Nantahala on the 5th.
