Baseball Recap: McNairy Central Bobcats vs. Booneville Blue Devils
McNairy Central took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Booneville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The McNairy Central Bobcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Booneville Blue Devils on Thursday. This was payback for the Bobcats, who suffered a 16-7 loss the last time these two teams met.
Cooper Teague looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, McNairy Central let Tucker McMahan and Case Stone run wild. McMahan scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Stone scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Stone has posted since back in March of 2024. Kendall Kiestler was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
The win made it two in a row for McNairy Central and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Booneville, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8.
McNairy Central has already played their next game, a 7-4 victory against Lausanne Collegiate on the 10th. As for Booneville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 win against Jackson Christian on the 10th.
