Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Monache's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Monache rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits, sneaking past 3-2.

Shy-Lee Teran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aalyha Mendoza, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

Monache was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Long Beach Poly only posted a batting average of .222.

Monache is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Long Beach Poly, they moved to 20-7 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Monache will head out on the road to challenge Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Marauders 2.5, the Patriots 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Long Beach Poly does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
