Football Recap: Chandler Runs Past Brophy College Prep + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chandler walked away with it. They came out on top against the Brophy College Prep Broncos by a score of 45-34 on Friday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

It was another big night for Will Mencl, who rushed for 146 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 281 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Chandler also got a significant boost from David Douglas, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Chandler was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brophy College Prep only rushed for 101.

Loss or not, Brophy College Prep got some senior leadership from Devin Fitzgerald and Case Vanden Bosch. Fitzgerald picked up 253 receiving yards and four scores, while Vanden Bosch threw for 372 yards and four TDs. With that strong performance, Fitzgerald is now averaging an impressive 102.5 receiving yards per game.

Chandler's record is now 9-2. As for Brophy College Prep, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.

Coming up, Chandler will head out to take on Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 996 yards in their previous games. Brophy College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
