Softball Recap: Bellevue Victorious

Bellevue took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Perkins, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redmen narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pirates 4-2. This was a revenge game for the Redmen: when they faced off against the Pirates back in April, they had to take a 14-4 loss.

Mallory Hay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Payton Hicks was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Bellevue's record now sits at 5-13. As for Perkins, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Bellevue didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-5 defeat against Shelby on the 5th. As for Perkins, they have also already played their next game, a 13-3 win against Columbian on the 5th.
