Softball Game Preview: Gaffney Indians vs. Wade Hampton Generals

The Gaffney Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Wade Hampton Generals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Gaffney beat Greenville 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Meanwhile, Wade Hampton came into Friday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Eastside on Friday. Considering the Generals have won three games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kellyn Kingston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Placko, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Breleigh Betsill, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Wade Hampton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gaffney's record now sits at 8-6. As for Wade Hampton, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
