After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Orchard Park, Canisius was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Mary's Lancers 3-1. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Jack Steiner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Eynon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Nick Scime, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Canisius was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

The victory got Canisius back to even at 2-2. As for St. Mary's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Canisius will have a chance to go back-to-back against St. Mary's: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
