Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ben Cordova and Chato Garcia Lead Victory Christian Academy to Victory

While Victory Christian Academy's victory against O'Farrell Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights skirted past the Falcons 15-12. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Victory Christian Academy was led to victory by Chato Garcia and Ben Cordova. Garcia rushed for 65 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, while Cordova picked up 50 receiving yards and one score.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Victory Christian Academy's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Nathan Garcia. Victory Christian Academy is 3-1 when Garcia posts one or more sacks, but 2-4 otherwise. Alejandro Rodriguez was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles.

When it comes to explaining why O'Farrell Charter lost on Friday, don't look at Dakobi Coleman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 122 yards and one TD on only 15 carries, and also threw for 111 yards and one touchdown on only ten passes. A healthy portion of Coleman's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to Evan Kelly, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The win got Victory Christian Academy back to even at 5-5. As for O'Farrell Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Victory Christian Academy will challenge Mountain Empire at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for O'Farrell Charter, they will square off against Palo Verde Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
