Baseball Recap: Airport Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Airport had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Aiken Thoroughbreds a 16-0 shutout. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Airport let Daniel Butts and Brice Gillette run wild. Butts went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Gillette scored two runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave Butts a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Caden Hatfield, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Airport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Airport pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.25 hits in those games compared to only 5.25 in the others. As for South Aiken, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Airport will face off against Midland Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Aiken, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
