Baseball Game Preview: Rockingham County Cougars vs. McMichael Phoenix

The Rockingham County Cougars will square off against the McMichael Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rockingham County 3, McMichael 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

McMichael's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Rockingham County hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Cougars put the hurt on Bartlett Yancey with a sharp 10-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Cougars have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gauge Rakestraw and Hudson Deel did most of the damage at the plate: Rakestraw went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double, while Deel went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Levi Dixon, who went 1-for-2 with three runs.

Meanwhile, McMichael waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Wolfpack.

Rockingham County's record now sits at 15-6. As for McMichael, their record is now 19-4.
