League recap: Cathedral climbs in state rankings

Cathedral scaled the state rankings by moving to 129 from 167 this week, the biggest jump in Mission. The Phantoms were able to move up by besting St. Paul 39-14.

St. Francis was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after falling to Serra. The Golden Knights came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.

Brad Kaaya threw for 275 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Jalen Greene provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cavaliers beat St. Francis. He completed 10 passes for 241 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 127 yards. Greene's favorite target this week was Jordan Lasley, who caught 4 passes for 106 yards.

Kaaya put up the best numbers in passing as Chaminade topped Harvard-Westlake. Kaaya's favorite target this week was Dallas Tessar, who caught 3 passes for 62 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Kaaya and Donovan Lee, the Eagles have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Kaaya is tops in the league in passing with 2,429 yards, while Lee has rushed for 1,092 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Serra's Adoree' Jackson, with 727 yards on 34 catches.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Chaminade and Jim Bonds' team. Ed Croson's team enters the contest ranked sixth in the state, while the Golden Knights ranks 24th.

Scott Altenberg's team's Greene is within 184 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against the Swordsmen. So far this year, Greene has thrown for 1,816 yards with 24 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

The Wolverines fell to the Eagles 73-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ryan Dominick was a bright spot for Harvard-Westlake, as he ran for 39 yards in the loss.
