Baseball Recap: Conotton Valley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Shadyside

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Conotton Valley had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Shadyside Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Rockets: when they faced off against the Tigers back in April, they had to take a 5-1 defeat.

Zack Putnam made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Putnam was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooks Bower, who went 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Conotton Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Shadyside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

Conotton Valley will challenge Strasburg-Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight. Shadyside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
