Two dominant backs in Dylan Callado and Kylin Jackson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Coconino Panthers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Bradshaw Mountain Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Coconino sitting on three straight wins and Bradshaw Mountain on five.
On Friday, Coconino didn't have too much trouble with Lee Williams as they won 28-12. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly 16 points.
Jake Hanley looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 47 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 113 yards on seven of 12 attempts.
Meanwhile, after only 13 points in their last contest, Bradshaw Mountain made sure to put some points up on the board against Buckeye on Friday. The Bears simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hawks 56-20. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 36 points or more this season.
A big part of Bradshaw Mountain's victory came down to the chemistry between Michael Sanford and his top target Caden Dabney. Sanford threw for 118 yards and four TDs while Dabney picked up 78 receiving yards and three scores. Those four passing touchdowns gave Sanford a new career-high.
Bradshaw Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 165 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.
Bradshaw Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Dallas Hernandez, Brody Bryant, and Desmond Tolbert picked up one apiece.
Bradshaw Mountain's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Coconino, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Coconino has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 189.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bradshaw Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 245.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Coconino couldn't quite get it done against Bradshaw Mountain in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 27-20. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
