Baseball Recap: Laporte Triumphs

Laporte let Lake of the Woods stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Tuesday but luckily Laporte prevailed anyway. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Bears 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won three in a row.

Atticus Hartman and Thaoden Hartman made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Hartman pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Thaoden struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. At bat, Hartman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Thaoden went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Hadrava, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Laporte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake of the Woods only posted an OBP of .412.

Laporte now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lake of the Woods, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Laporte will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Clearbrook-Gonvick at 4:30 p.m. As for Lake of the Woods, they will head out to challenge Win-E-Mac at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
