Basketball Recap: Tristan Farris Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lausanne Collegiate

St. George hadn't done well against Lausanne Collegiate recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The St. George's Gryphons walked away with a 58-48 victory over the Lausanne Collegiate Lynx. For the Gryphons, this counts as revenge for the 65-54 win the Lynx walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

St. George's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tristan Farris, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 15 points. Farris continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Rollin Crose was another key player, putting up nine points.

Despite the defeat, Lausanne Collegiate saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zuri Mcclure posted 19 points and seven rebounds. Mcclure is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Taylor, who put up four points and three steals.

St. George's is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Lausanne Collegiate, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. George's will square off against Evangelical Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. George's will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Lausanne Collegiate, they will take on First Assembly Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
