Softball Recap: White Pine Falls Short of Needles in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact White Pine can now relate to. They lost 14-3 to the Needles Mustangs on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 18-8 loss back in April.

White Pine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cecilia Barbosa, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Layla Ruesch, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.

The defeat snapped White Pine's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-12 record. As for Needles, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.

White Pine will take on Lincoln County at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Needles does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
