Lincoln and Prospect are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Lions will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lincoln 3.7, Prospect 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Lincoln is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Los Altos just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.
Serenity Hernandez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Prospect never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Del Mar on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 13-2 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kendall Tabora made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dani Rauscher was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sadie Slaughter, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Prospect kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Mar only managed five hits.
Prospect is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .420. However, it's not like Prospect struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lincoln couldn't quite finish off Prospect in their previous matchup back in April and fell 4-2. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
