Basketball Recap: Altoona-Midway Comes Up Short

Altoona-Midway's game on Friday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 55-47 to the Oswego Indians. The Jets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Altoona-Midway lost, don't look at William Stackhouse. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Stackhouse is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 29 games he's played dating back to last season. Joey Lamendola was another key player, putting up nine points.

Oswego's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Owen Jackson, who posted 18 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Josh Hutchinson, who put up eight points along with 13 rebounds and six assists.

Altoona-Midway has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Oswego, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Altoona-Midway will be playing in front of their home fans against Chetopa at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oswego, they will challenge Fredonia at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fredonia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.9 points per game this season.
