League recap: Bishop Verot extends undefeated streak to seven games

4A District 11 league recap: 5/7/12

Bishop Verot (26-2, 8-0) is red-hot, having won seven straight games, the longest such streak in 4A District 11. In the past week, the Vikings won another game, includinga 7-0 win over St. Andrew's. Chase Vogelbach's hot bat led the team this week, as he racked up one hits and two RBIs.

The Vikings currently sit at the top of the league with a mark of 26-2 overall and 8-0 in the league. LaBelle is 2.00 games back and in second place with a 6-2 league record.

Bishop Verot's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing four hits and zero walks to lead the league in both categories. The Vikings's pitchers have been charged with only 143 hits and have struck out 168 batters. Jeff Passantino is tops on the staff with 59 Ks.

The Cowboys's Kippy Stansly led the league with six hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .333 and ranks twenty-second in the league with 18 hits.

Dj Judge was the player of the game on May 3, 2012 with four RBIs in Bishop Verot's 7-0 victory over St. Andrew's.
