Basketball Game Preview: Godwin Heights Wolverines vs. Calvin Christian Squires

Godwin Heights hasn't had much luck against Calvin Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Godwin Heights Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Calvin Christian Squires at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Godwin Heights got the win against Comstock Park by a conclusive 58-34. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Calvin Christian beat Comstock Park 56-51 on Wednesday. Given the Squires' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Panthers are ranked 616th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calvin Christian has also been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Godwin Heights, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Things could have been worse for Godwin Heights, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-35 loss to Calvin Christian when the teams last played back in January. Can Godwin Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
